ELECTIONS IN LEÓN 2019

Based on the Statutes of the European Network of Ombuds in Higher Education, unanimously adopted by the Business Meeting in Edinburgh June 7, 2018, there will be an election for the following offices at our General Assembly on the June 27, 2019, in León:


  • The President
  • The Vice-President
  • The Treasurer
  • The Secretary
  • The Auditors
  • Board Members

  • The term of office is four years, except the Auditors, who are elected for a two years term. The President and the Vice-President can only be re-elected for one more term.

    May 27 is the deadline for paying the annual membership fee and exercising full membership rights.

    More about the offices:

    The President:

    The President shall represent ENOHE in public, sign on behalf of ENOHE, call for meetings with the Board and the General Assembly, and chair these meetings. The President is also a Board Member.

    The Vice-President:

    The Vice-President shall represent the President in their absence. The Vice-President is also Board Member.

    The Treasurer:

    The Treasurer is in charge of financial management, accounting and proper and careful budgeting, and is responsible for submitting the budget and statement of accounts to the Board. The Treasurer is also a Board Member.

    The Secretary:

    The Secretary is responsible for holding the memberships list, communicating with members, ensuring that meetings are effectively organised and minuted, and maintaining digital services. He or she is in charge of maintaining effective records and of the administration of the Secretariat, as well as of upholding the correct performance of elections and the legal requirements of governing documents. The Secretary is also a Board Member.

    The Auditors:

    The Statutes requires two independent auditors. The Auditors shall be responsible for monitoring the financial management of the Association and shall submit a written report to the General Assembly.

    Board Members:

    The Statutes requires at least three Board Members offices, but no more than nine, in addition to the President, the Vice-President, the Treasurer and the Secretary.

    The Board is responsible for dealing with all agendas not reserved for other bodies, in particular for approving the annual work plan and report of activities, recommending membership fee levels, and the budget and statement of accounts.

    The Board has to inform the members about the activities and all budgetary affairs in the course of the General Assembly meeting. The Board may also pass resolutions.


    The Voting Process:

    Only members in good standing can nominate, be nominated or vote. To be a member in good standing, the membership fee must be paid. This year the membership fee will be collected together with the conference fee for León.

    According to the Statutes, the right to vote may only be exercised in person. With regard to institutional members this right may be exercised by the legally authorized representative or an executive staff member authorized by a written mandate.
